Manager Sean Dyche has praised the never say die attitude of the Burnley squad and striker Rouwen Hennings has spoken of his delight at his first club goal.

Beginning with Dyche, he told the Official Site in his own post match press conference that the team never go under regardless of how a game plays out and he couldn’t have been more pleased to see us get back into the match despite trailing by two goals with only five minutes remaining in the match.

The gaffer also thought it was a case of justice done when Connolly helped the ball into his own net at the death of the game owing to him going unpunished in the first period with his handball that if not a straight red, would’ve at least returned a penalty had the referee got the decision right.

‘I think it was a deserved point. Not just myself, but the players and the fans, who travelled down here in large numbers, saw us very hard done by. I haven`t seen the first half incident back, but I`ll be surprised if it`s not hand ball. And don`t forget it`s not just a penalty, but he has to be sent off. It certainly was a big event because that changes the whole outlook of the game. We didn`t react to that in a bad way. We got on with the game. We did concede two poor goals, but the attitude of the players to get something from the game was outstanding. I am just so pleased with the mentality of the players because they never go under. I don`t but they don`t and that is a great thing to have as a collective. The fans know it too and to come down here on a miserable day weather wise, and see their players give everything for them again is a great feeling.’

With Hennings getting his first strike in English football following his arrival, Dyche said he was disappointed to have seen Chris Long start ahead of him, but coming off the substitutes bench late on to score our first was the perfect response to that disappointment.

‘Rouwen is still adapting and we wanted two sets of legs in there to stretch the pitch, with Chris and Andre. It worked somewhat and the only reason he came off is he ran out of steam. Rouwen would have been disappointed, but his mentality to come on and effect the game was excellent and as soon as he turned we all fancied him. His biggest strength is his finishing and that got us back into the game.’

Ending the gaffer went on to say.

‘Then, we have a relentless nature and we never go under though. If we do, it`ll be through good play from the opposition, not form our own lack of will and desire. We`ve had that scratch of luck to get the equaliser, but I felt we`d deserved it by that stage because we didn`t just have to beat the 11 in front of us. Decisions all day didn`t go anywhere near our way, so we have dealt with all that well.’

As for Hennings’ own interview, he was obviously delighted with the goal especially as it led us to our way of getting a point from the game.

‘It’s a great feeling to get my first goal and then we went on to score another thankfully and got an important point. It wasn’t our best game today but when I got on the pitch I tried to give everything and it was successful. I know that I can score goals but I have to show it again and I’m hopeful that I will. It’s a very good thing for us that we know we have goals in us when we don’t play as well. We were a little unlucky in some situations today but we have a great habit.’
