Manager Sean Dyche has been reflecting on five years in charge of Burnley as we go into the game against Newcastle United later this evening.

In the free video produced by the club to mark his anniversary, Dyche picks out a couple of favourite moments during his time in charge and reflects on our two promotions into the Premier League and of course Burnley’s survival seeing our first back to back top flight campaigns since the mid 1970’s.

‘When I got here it was more a case of a club coming back into control financially after two or three seasons before in the Premier League and then coming out of that. There was a lot of trimming to be done and a lot of re-organising. I thought there was some good work when I first got here in other departments, with the sports science side of things, the analysis side of things, strength and conditioning, some of the planning for games that me and my staff put in.’

Dyche also offered up.

‘You get the first promotion against all odds really, after a fine season and a group of players who were amazing for us. And then all of a sudden it`s a different world. We`re in the Premier League, a big challenge first time round, re-organise the club off the pitch, while trying to have a go at it. And then to come down and go back up again is a marvellous achievement. And to do it in the fashion we did – 23 games unbeaten to take the title – is something I will reflect on in many years to come, without a shadow of a doubt.’

Adding.

‘And then to continue the journey from there really. So, yes it has surprised me. I thought we could plan and move it forwards, but probably not so quickly to the level it`s got and everything that has brought. So, I`m really, really happy with the overall five years.’
