The Clarets have agreed a fee with Newcastle United for defender David Edgar.

It is understood Burnley will pay around £300,000 for Edgar as part of the compensation entitlement under the Bosman rules with Newcastle set to get more money depending on appearances.

However, the club have been unable to agree a fee with Manchester United for right back, Richard Eckersley and this will now have to go to a tribunal to resolve the matter.

Speaking to the Lancashire Telegraph, Chief Executive Paul Fletcher confirmed the situation and said:

“We have an agreement with Newcastle – we`re waiting for the contract to arrive. But we`ve not come to the same agreement with Manchester United. We have informed the Premier League and they will set the tribunal”

Manchester United are believed to want £1 million for Eckersley, which is somewhat above the Clarets valuation of the player.
