Gateshead is the Noble Prize!

It looks like the signing of former Brighton striker, Ashley Barnes last Friday was the death knell for 22 year old, Ryan Noble. Noble only joined the Clarets in the summer from Sunderland after signing a one-year contract but he has struggled to make any sort of impact in the first team with both Sam Vokes and Danny Ings in such splendid form. He made just two first team appearances for the Clarets and both involved coming on from the bench in stoppage time. He came on for Danny Ings in the 2-0 win against Yeovil at Turf Moor and replaced David Edgar in the Capital One Cup home defeat against West Ham.

The arrival of Barnes pushed him even further down the pecking order and it is perhaps no surprise that he has now been released from his contract. His contract was terminated by mutual consent and he has now joined Conference Premier side, Gateshead until the end of the season. Noble has gone straight into the squad for their home game against Aldershot tonight.(Tuesday 14th January)

Gateshead and former York boss Gary Mills talking about his new signing said:

‘Noble is a goalscorer and a good player. He can play down the middle or out wide and will be suited to the way we play. His hold up play and movement are good and he’s an excellent signing for the club.

‘It is the perfect time for him and us that he has come to Gateshead. He is an exciting player who can now settle down and play regular football at a good level. Competition is always healthy and I need that in other areas. Noble can score goals in the Conference and I’m looking forward to him making a big impression.’
