Defender Luke Hendrie has today left Turf Moor and Burnley for the last time and made a permanent switch to Shrewsbury Town.

The 23 year old player spent the first half of the season out on loan with Bradford City, making 18 appearances whilst with them, but he has now agreed an 18 month deal out with the League One promotion chasing side.

Having joined us from Derby back in August 2015, he also took in experience with Hartlepool United, York City and Kilmarnock but he didn’t debut for Burnley.

With Shrewsbury seeking a return to the Championship for the first time since 1989, Hendrie told the Official Site.

‘Hopefully there will be a lot of success, but that will come with hard work, so I just want to work hard first and foremost and see where it takes me. The lads are playing really well and long may that continue. The manager has great ambition and I`m an ambitious player as well, so he matches my ambition and I can`t wait to get going.’

He added.

‘My past few moves have been on-loan and it can be difficult sometimes because you never know how long you are going to be there for, but I`m happy to get it sorted and I know now for the next 18-months that I will be here with Shrewsbury.’
