Lee Hoos has given an interview this evening explaining that Burnley are in a good financial position despite relegation being confirmed from the Premier League this year and that means we do not need to sell anybody to balance the books going into 2015-16.

The chief executive explained to the Official Site that Burnley were in a very healthy and stable position and the focus next season would be on mounting another serious assault on promotion.

‘We are in the fortunate position right now where we will not be forced to sell anyone for financial reasons. We have managed things well and the whole point of building a squad is to try to hold on to what you have and then build from there. I can`t predict the future and what might happen to individuals, but last time we were relegated we were forced to sell players to balance the books.’

He goes on to categorically state that this isn’t a position we are in going into the new season but are instead in a position where we can ‘remind’ people what the group are capable of and get everybody re-energised and get them believing that the ‘best way to get to the Premier League is to stick with us and help take us back there.’

As for growing managerial speculation about Sean Dyche, Hoos also went on to say that he remains under contract and talks about moving the club forward again are planned once we get the final two games of the campaign out of the way.

‘There been speculation about Sean, but he is making plans for the final two games and then next season and how we take the club forward. The really important thing now is that if you take two steps forward and one back, you are still going forwards. What we need to do is make sure we don`t take two steps back. It`s important that we keep going forwards and that is about having the right investments and infrastructure and holding on to players to grow the club and take it forward.’

He ends by saying that it’s about ‘sustainability’ and that doesn’t just apply to finances, it applies to the playing squad, the ethos of the club and all eyes being on bouncing back stronger than being to get back to the Premier League where next time we will hopefully be in a better position to avoid relegation.

‘The Board are very ambitious and want to take the club forward. There are a couple of clubs in the mix right now who, if they are relegated, will have to sell players in order to make up the deficit. Our Board have decided we don`t want to be in the position where we have to dismantle because that would be taking two steps back.’
