Hot on the heels of signing Kieran Trippier on a permanent deal, there is now a strong hint that Burnley could also be in the market to complete a similar deal for Ben Mee.

The defender, curently on loan from Manchester City has impressed this season both at left-back and in his preferred position of centre back.

The 22 year old England international joined Burnley on a season long loan in July last summer and is now along with Trippier a key player in the back four for the Clarets.

Who suggests we might also be seeking a permanent deal for Mee? Well surprisngly this is not coming from media gossip or indeed from fans forums but from the Official Manchester City website itself.

In an article reporting the permanent deal for Trippier they add at the end that, quote:

‘Burnley could tie up a deal for another Blues loan star, Ben Mee in the coming days.’

Eddie Howe also seems to suggest such a deal could be on the cards and indeed the statement also suggests that yet another loan player at Turf Moor, Wolves Sam Vokes could be another target.

“In the majority of cases, whenever we take loan players it`s with a view to taking them permanently because I think that`s the best way to use the loan system, said Howe recently.

This is all encouraging news and after the Jack Cork fiasco perhaps the club have learned a lesson or two and are now getting in bids quickly before the opportunity evaporates and other clubs with more money step in and poach our loan players from under our noses.
