According to the Burnley Express, the Clarets may have moved their attention away from high-profile Hearts 22 year old winger, Andrew Driver following speculation last week that Burnley had doubled their offer to £3 million and that a deal was imminent.

It would appear now that those reports were wide of the mark and that the only offer on the table was one thought to be in the region of £1.5m.

This offer was believed to have been based on discussions two weeks ago between Operational Director Brendan Flood and Andrew Driver’s agent Scott Fisher.

It is understood Burnley gave the Edinburgh SPL club until last Saturday to get back to them on the offer but that no communication has since taken place.

Hearts are believed to want at least double the £1.5 million on the table with Hearts boss, Vladimir Romanov reported to be asking for £4 million.

The Burnley Express now believe the Clarets will move on and turn their attention elsewhere.

Championship rivals Middlesbrough, as well as Premier League Wigan and even Chelsea have also been linked with the player amongst others.

Another player in the news is our own winger, Chris Eagles who has now been linked with Championship side, Nottinghsm Forest. Billy Davies is understood to be keen on the former Manchester United player who still has one year of his contract at Turf Moor remaining.

It is however difficult to see Eagles moving to a Championship club in view of his stated ambitions to play in the top flight. Some Premier League clubs have been reported to be interested in Eagles in the media including Everton, Spurs and Sunderland but nothing has been confirmed and indeed one club,Sunderland have denied the speculation.
