According to Skysports.com Burnley are considering a move to sign Derby County’s unsettled defender Dean Leacock.

The 26-year-old only last week attracted interest from Premier League club, West Bromwich Albion.

Leacock’s future at Pride Park appears to be in doubt following recent criticism from manager Nigel Clough. He claimed the defender offered ‘absolutely nothing’ in the 5-2 defeat recently by local rivals Nottingham Forest.

The former Fulham defender has since been an unused substitute failing to make an appearance in the Rams Championship games against Preston North End and Millwall.

Leacock started his professional career at Craven Cottage in 2001 but only made a handful of appearances also finding himself out on loan to Coventry City for two spells in 2004 and 2005.

In August 2006, it was announced that he would join Derby County in a £375,000 transfer.

Leacock is primarily a centre back but can also play at right back and as a defensive midfielder.

This is not the first time we have been linked with the defender but maybe now if the rumour is true Derby County might be more inclined to release him.
