Bolton recently recalled right back Nicky Hunt from a loan spell at Birmingham City to cover for injuries but they are understood to be willing to listen to offers for the player in the January windoe.

The Sunday papers have been keen to link the player with Burnley and it is understood Owen Coyle may have been forced to look at other defensive options after failing to sign Premier League full-back, Tony McMahon of Middlesbrough.

The Greater Manchester-born 25 year old has been a Bolton supporter since his schooldays.

His dreams were met when he signed for the club he adores in 2000 before making his debut in the First Division match against Sheffield United on the final day of the 2000-01 season after coming on as a substitute in place of Colin Hendry. This was the season that Bolton were promoted to the Premier League.

He didn’t really breakthrough into the first team though until the 2003-04 season when he became a key part of the defence and a first-team regular for Bolton.

In August 2007, Hunt signed a new four year contract keeping him at the club until the end of the 2010-11 season.

In November 2008, Hunt signed for Birmingham City on an emergency loan basis, initially for one month and this was later extended for a further month.
