Charlton want Chelsea’s Scott Sinclair on loan and are favourites to sign the player despite interest from Burnley and Stoke.

The rumour was reported in the Mirror today.

The 18 year old left winger born in Bath started his career with Bristol Rovers and controversially joined Chelsea in July 2005.

Bristol Rovers did not give Chelsea permission to speak to him, let alone agree a fee. In the following tribunal, Chelsea were forced to pay an initial fee of £200,000 to Bristol Rovers and could fork out an extra £750,000 depending on his success at Chelsea. They also have to pay Bristol Rovers 15% of any profit they make if they sell him.

He made his debut for Chelsea in May 2007 coming on to replace Shaun Wright-Phillips for the last ten minutes of their game against Arsenal and he has since had loan spells at both Plymouth and QPR in 2007.

Sinclair was selected for the England U19s team for their matches during October 2007 having previously played at both England U17 and U18 level.
