Vital Burnley currently sponsor the Burnley Former Players Association(BFPA) and along with Clarets Trust and When the Ball Moves…fanzine have secured a table of ten for the Official BFPA 1991-92 Anniversary Dinner to take place on the evening of Saturday 14th April.

We are delighted therefore to publish a Press Release from the BFPA about the event which we provide in full below. If any of our Vital Burnley readers or posters would like to go let me know as we are currently organising tables depending on level of interest (One table now full). It will be held on the same day that Burnley play Coventry City at Turf Moor so if you are going to the game why not come along later to the event?

BFPA Press Release

April 28, 1992, will forever be etched in the memory of Clarets fans.

A 2-1 win at York City secured the Fourth Division championship and ended seven long years in English football’s basement edition.

Now, 20 years on from that night in York, Burnley Former Players’ Association are reuniting the men who made Clarets dreams come true.

All members of that triumphant 91/92 squad have been invited and many have already confirmed their attendance including goal heroes John Deary and John Francis, captain fantastic John Pender, goalkeeper, Chris Pearce and goal machine Roger Eli.

Frank Casper, who started the campaign as manager, and chairman Frank Teasdale will also be there on the night to celebrate a season which is rightly remembered as the year Burnley most definitely came back.

Clarets legend Steve Kindon will be entertaining the crowd with tales of his Burnley career while there will also be a chance to hear from the squad themselves about that triumphant season, the mid-season trip to Russia and the time they welcomed European champions Ajax to Turf Moor.

And if that wasn’t enough, former striker Eli will be there to sign copies of his new book Thanks For The Memories, co-written with Clarets fan Dave Thomas. Books will be available on the night to purchase.

Tickets, which include a delicious three-course meal, are priced at £25 each and are available from Veronica Simpson by calling 07974310099 or by emailing v.simpson@burnleyfc.com
