The young Burnley defender will, at least he should, be back with the Clarets though!

Alex Whitmore has been given the chance to get some first-team football under his belt as the Burnley Development Squad member has been loaned out to Non-League side Chester on a ‘youth loan.’

His loan, which will last for an initial one-month, was confirmed on the Official Website.

Whitmore, who said this move was ‘an easy decision’ to make, is looking forward to his chance at some first-team football with this the first loan move of the second year pros career.

‘It was an easy decision for me as soon as I got the call it was an instant ‘yes’ as it’s a great opportunity for me.

‘I am yet to play my first competitive game, so obviously your first loan move is exciting and I can’t wait to get going and hopefully get some games under my belt.

‘The last time I played for points was for the Youth Team and I’m excited to play alongside players who give everything, so it will be nice to add a real competitive edge to my game.

‘I just want to impress everyone playing against experienced players and hopefully that can only look good in the eyes of Burnley.’

His development will best be served this way without a doubt.

Another of the players currently out on loan, but much closer to the first-team than the 20-year-old central defender, is Kevin Long but his short-term loan spell as he looked to build up his match fitness at Barnsley could have, for all intent and purpose, come to an end!

Long, who scored on his debut for the League 1 side on Saturday was sent off on Tuesday in defeat at Peterborough, which with him set to serve a three-match ban (I think) could effectively mean his one-month loan is now over….
