Cameroon beat Morocco in their final game of the African Group A 2010 World Cup qualifiers yesterday (Saturday 14th November). The 2-0 victory confirmed that the Indomitable Lions would now ge going to South Africa for the World Cup finals next year. Cameroon finished top of their group with 13 points from six games.

This is good news for Clarets fans as we will now probably have one of our players to hopefully watch play in the competition. Andre Bikey has been a regular member of the Cameroon squad and although he didn’t feature in the match yesterday, he will be hoping to book his passage to South Africa next summer.

Two other Clarets played for their country yesterday.

Steven Fletcher came on from the bench for Scotland after 55 minutes in their friendly against Wales in the Cardiff City Stadium. However by then the Scots were already 3-0 down after three first half goals with the Welsh team on fire and the Scottish lads looking jaded and clueless. The substitutions made no difference and the Welsh coasted to victory 3-0 with the future of Scotland manager, George Burley once more coming under scrutiny. Steven Caldwell was an unused substitute for Scotland.

There was better news for the Scotland Under 21 team. They had a thumping 4-0 victory over Azerbaijan in Baku yesterday in their UEFA Under 21 Championship qualifying game.Kevin McDonald played his full part in the victory and was not substituted.Brian Easton however did not feature and was not even named on the bench.
