Following today’s clash between Burnley and Manchester United, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Burnley hosted Manchester United at Turf Moor on Saturday January 20, with the visitors taking a one nil victory following an Anthony Martial strike in the second half.

Although Jose Mourinho’s side took all three points from the game, Sean Dyche will have taken the positives as the restricted United to only two efforts on target across the whole game and they could’ve taken a point when Johann Berg Gudmundsson hit the woodwork from a set piece.

Pope, Bardsley, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Berg Gudmundsson, Defour, Cork, Arfield (Nkoudou 81), Hendrick (Vokes 81), Barnes (Wells 89).

Lowton, Westwood, Lindegaard, Long.

Man Utd:

de Gea, A Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Young, Lingard (Rashford 80), Matic, Pogba, Mata (Fellaini 72), R Lukaku, Martial (Herrera 90+4).

Rojo, Romero, Shaw, McTominay.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Mike Dean blew the final whistle, Burnley manager Sean Dyche explained.

‘The defining moment is an absolutely fantastic finish from a player they brought in for a lot of money. They just found a moment and that is our next stage of our development but we are not too far away. Despite it being a tricky run I’m delighted with the way we are going. Eighth in the Premier League is no mean feat but we have to keep playing like that to get back to winning ways.’

Questioned on speculation about Everton’s Aaron Lennon arriving the next few days.

‘Aaron Lennon is a possibility, there are a few players we have been linked with so we will see.’

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho in his comparative interview explained.

‘If you don’t score you are in trouble, they go direct, they are consistent in their approach it is really difficult. We defended very well, and it is fair to say Mike Dean and his team were very good. There was a lot of first ball, second ball and the physicality. Of course we are happy with him (Martial), we just want consistency, we know he has the talent.’

Asked about Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez.

‘If you ask me if I think he is coming, I think so, but I have no confirmation.’
